Drylab is an intuitive software for filmmakers that originated in Norway. In its core, it’s an innovative shot management system: Drylab distributes images automatically to all connected devices. Each of the users has an insight into the entirety of the collected materials. The interface is adapted to the specific role the user fulfills on the set.

Challenge

A good flow of communication on a film set is essential for the quality of the final product. From the script to the set and later to the editing room, the story needs a lot of attention from many different people. Given the hectic nature of the industry, it’s easy to miss important details. The biggest challenge was to create an app that could be used on both Android and iOS perfectly in sync. Speedy upload of data and developing a clear interface was crucial to the success of Drylab.

Thanks to our work, right now Drylab offers 4 solutions: Drylab Viewer (access to all the clips from any place, sharing frames, and metadata), Drylab Creator (receives clips and metadata from camera and metadata from Set Report), Set Report (collects manual metadata while shooting, improves metadata quality and consistency) and Admin (helps to manage productions, users and permissions).

Drylab has more than 200 film and TV productions on its back. The platform is appreciated by creatives on film sets across the world and leading filmmakers, such as George Clooney’s series, Catch-22.
